Celestine Agbo

My name is Celestine Obiora Agbo, aka Uncle Obi.

Though I was not born in the UK, I was bred in South London, which has been my home from age 10. My early formative years as a Biafran war refugee has played an important role in shaping my life and commitment to humanity, in spite of all the challenges we face. With over four decades of social/therapeutic care and hospitality experience, I continue to fine-tune my endeavours to support others to feel and be holistically healthier.

It was an honour to have been considered for membership of this spectacular committee of incredible professionals, committed to exploring various avenues in order to promote, support and develop healthier generations and a healthier nation. I joined the committee because I want to assist in promoting future generations of younger people’s understanding of the benefits of violence-free eating that is underpinned by a plant-based diet; and to support other members in their vision of making a lasting contribution for a healthier community in Lambeth and Southwark. I am excited that the Black Food Fund committee will make a lasting impact on the wellbeing of all our futures.

To me, this committee will provide a unique opportunity to affect growth in diversifying away from dated eating habits which no longer serve Black people.
